Resident Evil Wii (Japan edition) just got a little more stupid … welcome to your hell Wii owners

   I annoyed by noobs saying RE4 is about shooting people in the head for an instant kill. Perhaps on easy you had the “win” button by being able to shoot him in the head for the instant kill. But for those of use who can actually play games and got straight to hard that’s not an option.

   RE4 changed it up. You shoot one bullet in the knee, run up, kick him down, then stab him until he dies. You don’t have enough ammo to be filling plague with lead, you’ve actually got to be good.

   A) Headshots in the original RE4 never really killed unless you have a powerful weapon or spent multiple pistol bullets trying to take off the head. Either way, by the time you get midgame, headshots tend to be useless as the villagers mutate with those things coming out of the neck when the head is gone.

   Also, limbs were never able to just come off. RE4 is not Soldier of Fortune. They only react to the damage they take when a limb gets injured.

   B) Seems like the Japanese version will be edited according to the link, not the American version. “Why hasn’t anyone invented a Freeloader disc for the Wii, yet? I’d like to play the American Wii version of RE:4 on my Japanese Wii.”

   Maybe if the people at EG could stop acting like fucking anti Nintendo fanboys half the time, this wouldn’t be an issue.

   I say this with love of course.

   Maybe you guys didn’t read the source material. Khonsu that’s what I enjoyed about RE4 too, mixing it up a bit. I liked to shoot them in the knees and shotgun them in the face. That’s apparently gone.

   The Wii is a fucking kids toy. I want Makkers to take back what he said… “stop acting like fucking anti Nintendo fanboys half the time”. Let’s get it right… it’s ALL THE TIME.

   Redeem yourself Wii. Impress me for once.

   Lets face it guys the Wii is a farce.

   This story reminds me so much of the original MK nonsense when it was released on the Megadrive, and snes. The Sega version was spot on while the snes version was raped of gore, blood and the proper fatalities.

   Could the decision to reduce the gore in Res4 be a sign that Capcom knows exactly what the demographic of this console is? Meaning that a M rated title in the US and a 15/18 here in UK just wouldn’t shift volume.

   djWheat, when I was saying “Half the time”, I was at least giving you guys some credit. Fine, all the time then. :)

   As I said previously, why should we care about what happens in the Japanese version when the game is pretty much going to be intact here in America? It’s a pointless jab at Nintendo, truthfully, and I’m not particularly a Nintendo fanboy.

   Anyways, one thing that has been irking me is calling the Wii a toy. I understand this is your way of demeaning the system but lets face it: All game systems are “toys”. The real question is what toy (system) suits you? Calling the Wii a toy is as silly as an 8 year old boy defending his “action figures” and making fun of girls for playing with “dolls.”

   I will side with you that aside from Zelda and Paper Mario, there is absolutely nothing on the Wii that is exciting me or any gamer. This is the first year, however, but I would like to see the Wii get something that propels the system from a pointless family tool to something more.

   I think its fair to assume that using the word toy is fair due to the actual physical limitations of the wii itself.

   The other two consoles have more capabilities than playing games resulting in convergence of different forms of media, be it cd, ripping music, tv, hd-dvd, br-dvd, upscaling dvd, streaming media from pc, or gaming.

   The simplistic design of the wii offers no potential to match the 360, or ps3 and become the “box” under the tv. Nintendo’s vision is blinkered, the wiimote does not add any further immersion to gaming. If anything it adds further frustration as you try and work out shoe horned in control mechanics. For example why the fuck does MK all of a sudden require hand wiggling to play. Its a joke.

   While the PS3 and the 360 is capable of more than just playing games, guess what? You bought it so you can play games. It’s still a toy, with the primary function is to (Surprise, surprise) play games. Everything else is a bonus.

   By your definition, sizu sizu, I guess the Wii is not a toy since it gives you the option to surf the web, edit photos and gives you the weather/news. Easy Bake Ovens not only entertain kids but produces food as well. Doesn’t stop it from being a toy.

   Also, sizu sizu, would you consider the SNES a toy? PS1? Saturn? Dreamcast? These are systems that lacked the “home entertainment” angle but still serve the same primary function as the consoles this gen.

   Also, you can’t judge a system’s potential by pointing towards half assed PS2 ports. Currently that’s the biggest reason why people such as yourself and the EG crew bash Wii so much: The system itself is a dumping ground for crap we should have spent $20 on the PS2. I can’t blame you or EG because facts are facts. Either way, this gen just started and anything can happen.

   The sad part about this situation is that the PS3 has barely offered much in the way of gaming yet people want to play the “potential” card but when the Wii is suffering from the same situation game wise, everybody goes into double standard mode. It’s seriously annoying.

   *Sigh* This generation of gaming is disappointing, anyways. Personally, I’m sticking with my PC.

    I’m not sure how the ability to use the weather channel, news channel or an average web browser makes the wii a media hub - as I described the other two.

    Do I consider the snes, psx, saturn or dc as toys? No. These were marketed to the gamer as a games machine. The wii is marketed towards the non gamer/casual. The focus of the consoles you mentioned was never to get the family to interact together in the living room.

    However that is the marketed focus of wii. To nintendo the Wii is similar to a traditional board game. In previous generations it was a board game which allowed the family to “play”, and interact together. Now they see that as being the wii with its simplistic multigame bundles.

    As for the ps3 not offering much to gaming, in a sense that is true. However I would argue at this stage that it does satisfy the wider audience through genres covered. Plus Resistance, RR7, MS and VF5 are all very enjoyable gaming experiences.

    Sticking with your pc is fair enough. I’m very much into pc gaming but unfortunately its release schedule isn’t exactly rich this year. Crysis, Quakewars and Hellgate:London are the only mentionable exclusives this year.

    RE4 for GC and PS2 in Japan was also censored.

    RE4 Wii is a port. So one can infer that they are getting the same version already released but, hey, on the Wii. So that means… that’s right, it’s still censored.

    This issue has nothing to do with what console its on but the developers choice… how can you see anything other then that?
